Eureka! at Halifax, West Yorkshire, is the National Children’s Museum and has endless fun educational activities that create a truly magical day out. The activities are so well designed that kids see the whole experience as exciting and fun even though the focus is on learning, just the way it should be!
The whole experience is very hands-on, not like normal museums at all. You’ll see your children’s eyes light up at the many amazing colourful displays as they learn new things along the way. There’s over 400 interactive exhibits across 6 unique zones, all aimed at children from 0-11yrs, making the Eureka Museum a family day out to remember.
So what things can you do at Eureka?
From discovering about themselves and their bodies with huge teeth and playing doctors to seeing how their skeletons work, it’s not hard to see why Eureka is such a a hit with kids. But it doesn’t stop there, the list of zones and activities are endless, all cleverly designed to inspire your child whilst learning.
There’s new and exciting displays that change regularly, offering frequent visitors something new each time. There’s sensory play for under 5’s who can discover the smells and sounds of the desert, whilst building a baby oasis. There’s a child sized town square, with fountain and shops where they’ll uncover the world of working. Clever sound focussed activities allow your kids to discover nature or help Orby the alien. Plus the Eureka theatre is used during school holidays for a range of workshops on a variety of amazing topics, check the website for details.
The café offers delicious, freshly prepared meals and snacks, or you can eat your packed lunches at several eating areas, one of the being an old train carriage! There’s baby feeding stations too, with microwave facilities for warming up milk or food. Finally the shop has a range of gifts and Eureka branded toys that allows your children to carry on exploring and experimenting at home.
